2012 Garage Build
The Little Traverse Association of Home Builders “Garage Build” is an annual event to promote the building trades programs at the four school districts in our membership area: Petoskey, Pellston, Charlevoix and Boyne City Schools. 2012 marks the 12th year of successful “Garage Builds.”
Thanks to the tireless effort of Association volunteers and the donations of businesses and individuals, 2011 was another huge success. In 2011, The Little Traverse Association of Home Builders awarded $1250 to each of the four participating school construction trade programs to be utilized for the advancement of education in construction at the high school level.
Based on bids received during the 2012 Home Show, an Emmet County resident has successfully bid on the 2012 Garage Build Project. The building trades students, with the supervision of their instructors and Association volunteers, will frame, roof, side, secure and electrify the garage for the winning bidder prior to the conclusion of the school year.
The proceeds from the winning bid sale and sponsorships will be distributed equally among the participating schools. The schools’ funds may be used at the discretion of the building trade instructors for education materials, shop equipment, carpentry tools and post-graduation scholarships for their students. Monetary donations may be pledged now and collected at a later date via invoice from the Little Traverse Association of Home Builders. For those wishing to donate building materials, materials will be collected prior to construction.
Please consider a pledge to the 2012 Construction Trades Education program, affiliated with Char-Em and our student charters at Pellston, Petoskey, Charlevoix and Boyne City High Schools.
